The Steamboat Tavern is a wonderful, dog friendly, historical pub of character located on New Cut West, in Ipswich. It is well renowned for its live music and ever changing range of guest beers, with a comfortable beer garden in the back.

Ipswich has been a launching ground for several successful artists. Notably, The Adicts—one of the longest-running punk bands in the UK—got their start here in the late ’70s, bringing Ipswich punk onto the international stage. Similarly, Ed Sheeran performed early gigs around town before becoming a global star, and he occasionally still returns to the area for intimate shows. Other local talents like Bessie Turner and Caswell continue to represent Ipswich on larger stages, each drawing from their experiences in the town’s live music scene to shape their unique sounds.
