Information - Chest / The Portland / Sam Milne and The Tyrants

Get ready for an incredible night of live music at one of our favorite local venues! On Saturday, 10 October 2026, The Smokehouse is hosting a powerhouse lineup featuring some of the most exciting names in the indie scene right now.

Chest

Since emerging in 2024, Chest has been making serious waves. They’ve quickly caught the ear of industry insiders and indie fans alike, picking up airplay on local radio as well as BBC Radio 6 and BBC Radio 1.

Their sound is a brilliant mix of 90s alt-pop nostalgia and modern energy. Think of the guitar-driven vibes of Catatonia and Superdrag mashed together with the contemporary sounds of bands like Inhaler and Been Stellar. It’s dynamic, genre-defying, and definitely something you’ll want to see live.

The Portland

Joining the bill are The Portland, who have had a massive twelve months. After supporting the Stanleys on a sell-out tour and opening for The Hunna, they are a band on the up. Their music draws from a cool, eclectic mix of influences including Pixies, Wunderhorse, Keo, and Foals.

Sam Milne & The Tyrants

We love supporting local talent, and Sam Milne is one of Ipswich’s own! Sam will be performing his original indie rock tracks alongside his backing band, The Tyrants. It’s the perfect way to kick off a night of high-quality live music.

You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Involved In Pride in Place

One of the biggest misconceptions about community projects is that they're only for people with impressive CVs, professional backgrounds or years of experience sitting on committees. The Pride in Place programme - a government investment for Whitehouse and Stoke Park/Chantry of £20m into each area over 10 years - is trying to change that.
