Unlock the Secrets Behind Ipswich’s Most Mysterious Blue Door This August!
Ever walked down Tavern Street, spotted that iconic blue door, and wondered what actually goes on inside?
You are not alone.
This August, the Ipswich Institute is throwing its doors wide open for the return of its hit summer festival—giving locals a backstage pass to one of the town’s best-kept secrets.
Think of it as a month-long celebration of curiosity, right in the heart of our town centre. The packed summer line-up features everything from fascinating talks and hands-on workshops to guided walks exploring hidden corners of Ipswich. It is the perfect, bite-sized way to experience the vibrant learning and community spirit that Institute members enjoy all year round.
Whether you are a lifelong Suffolk resident, a newcomer to the town, or just looking to escape the summer heat with a friendly crowd, you will find something that sparks your interest. “Introducing an August-specific programme last year worked so well we knew it had to become a summer tradition,” says Jo Rooks, General Manager at the Ipswich Institute. “We know we are a bit of an intriguing mystery to people walking past on the high street.
This is our chance to show off what we do and share the warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes this place a true Ipswich treasure.”Don’t let the summer slip by without discovering what is waiting for you on Tavern Street.
How to join in: Pop in to pick up a printed programme, or browse the full lineup online. Spaces fill up fast, and bookings are officially open now!
