Information - Esther Freud – Suffolk Book League

Esther Freud has worked in theatre and television, both as a writer and actress. She is the bestselling author of ten novels and her books have been translated into thirteen languages. We are so pleased that she will talk about her latest book, My Sister and Other Lovers (2025). This novel tells of what happened to Bea and Lucy, the little girls she first wrote about in Hideous Kinky (1992), her semi-autobiographical novel about travelling in Morocco with her mother and sister. Her real-life sister is fashion designer, Bella Freud. Esther has strong links to Suffolk, especially Walberswick, which is the setting for The Sea House, Mr Mac and Me and her latest venture, a storybook for young children, Enchanted Beach.

You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Involved In Pride in Place

One of the biggest misconceptions about community projects is that they're only for people with impressive CVs, professional backgrounds or years of experience sitting on committees. The Pride in Place programme - a government investment for Whitehouse and Stoke Park/Chantry of £20m into each area over 10 years - is trying to change that.
