ITGA Summer Guided Walks

Posted on April 12, 2026 by Sam Sherman

Have you ever taken a guided walk around Ipswich with a qualified Tourist Guide?

Ipswich Tourist Guides draw winter to a close on Thursday 23rd April with one more Afternoon Tea walk. ‘Right Royal Relations’ will follow in the footsteps of kings, queens and royal visitors to Ipswich and end with tea & delicious cake. Cost: £12 including refreshments.

Booking advisable https://ipswichinstitute.org.uk/ipswichtourist

Our Summer season begins on Thursday 5th May with a new season of walking tours of historic Ipswich. Taking a guided Walk with Ipswich Tourist Guides is a fun and informative way to find out more about the town – which is steeped in history with hidden gems around every corner . Walks are available at 2pm every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from May until the end of September and cost just £6 per person.

Walks start in the “Admiral’s House”, 13 Tower Street in the town centre – convenient for car parks and bus stations.

There are walks to cater for all interests. A selection of upcoming titles gives a flavour of themes to explore – Hidden Corners, Brewing in Ipswich, Name Dropping, Charles Dickens comes to Town, Rags & Bones, and many more. This year’s programme also includes walks to commemorate the 250th anniversary celebrations of the great English landscape artist, John Constable – born in Suffolk in 1776 – a regular visitor to Ipswich in his younger days to sketch with other local artists.

Booking is advisable but not essential. Places can be booked at the Ipswich Institute, either in person at 15 Tavern Street, Ipswich IP1 3AA,  or online via the Tourist Guides section on the Institute’s website.  https://ipswichinstitute.org.uk/ipswichtourist
