SPILL Festival is back – and Ipswich is about to get creative again Get ready, Ipswich! From 23–26 October, the town will be buzzing with colour, creativity and a whole lot of fun as SPILL Festival returns. It’s one of the UK’s most exciting international festivals of live art, and it’s happening right here in Suffolk’s County Town (and let’s be honest, its Cultural Capital too).
Whether you’re into bold performances, complex and thoughtful installations, talks and walks, or just fancy exploring something new, SPILL offers something for everyone and for people of all ages.
Here’s a sneak peek at what’s coming…

Spill Think Tank
High Street Ipswich IP1 3QH
SPILL is an arts organisation and registered charity based in Ipswich, a town in the East of England. We create events for the people of Ipswich, East Anglia, and further afield, and work with artists to develop their practice.
For people who enjoy making and building, try Steli on The Cornhill, Sat and Sun 10:00 – 11:00 and 13:00 – 15:00. FREE. Ages 4+
Steli by Italian company Stalker Teatro is a giant, colourful, hands-on installation that, to me, looks a bit like a massive public session of Twister-meets-Kerplunk (but minus the marbles!). It’s happening in the middle of Ipswich and it’s playful, creative, and perfect for the whole family.
For the music lovers, head to St Stephen’s Church next to Buttermarket on Fri 24, 20:00 – 23:00. £10. Aged 18+.
SPILL is teaming up with Brighten The Corners for a night of live music and DJ sets, featuring guest artists including headliners Ebi Soda—the London band tipped by BBC 6 Music’s Jamz Supernova as one of her top 5 new acts. If you like your nights loud, lively and full of energy, book your ticket.
Love dancing? Step into CINDYS, circa 1983.
On Saturday 25th, theatre-maker Kirsty Tallent takes us back to the legendary Ipswich nightclub CINDYS. Her new play under development, Brown Babies, is inspired by her parents’ love story and the nights out at CINDYS that shaped a generation of US service personnel and Ipswichians. Expect vinyl sets, funk, soul, hip-hop, and a full-on 80s vibe. Right down to the ticket price (just £1.50!).
SPILL Festival is open to everyone. You don’t need to be an artist or know anything at all about live art to have a great time. Just bring your curiosity about creativity and come along.
