Madama Butterfly – Ellen Kent’s Farewell Opera Tour

Senbla proudly presents Ellen Kent’s Farewell Opera Tour, featuring Opera International Kyiv, Ukraine, with highly-praised soloists and a full orchestra.

About the Opera

Puccini’s Madama Butterfly is one of the world’s most beloved operas, telling the heart-breaking story of a beautiful young Japanese girl who falls deeply in love with an American naval lieutenant – and the dramatic consequences that follow.

This award-winning production, winner of the Best Opera Award at the Liverpool Daily Post Theatre Awards, returns by overwhelming public demand. The new staging features exquisite sets, including a spectacular Japanese garden, and fabulous costumes – including authentic antique wedding kimonos from Japan.

What to Expect

  • Emotional and moving performances directed by Ellen Kent herself
  • Beautiful melodies such as the “Humming Chorus,” the soaring aria “One Fine Day,” and the unforgettable “Love Duet”
  • Sung in Italian with English surtitles (please note some seats may have restricted views of surtitles)

“Above all it was a production which captured the raw emotion at the centre of the opera. Don’t take a handkerchief with you, take a box of them.” – The Independent

You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Involved In Pride in Place

One of the biggest misconceptions about community projects is that they're only for people with impressive CVs, professional backgrounds or years of experience sitting on committees. The Pride in Place programme - a government investment for Whitehouse and Stoke Park/Chantry of £20m into each area over 10 years - is trying to change that.
