Information - 4 Week Beginner Watercolour Course

Introducing students to the magic of watercolour, led by artist and tutor, Debs Burrow. Through engaging lessons, you will explore the versatility and appeal of watercolour. focusing on how watercolour behaves, and how to mix colours successfully, you will learn how to produce a lovely sunset sky, and simple studies of natural objects through observation and testing.

Week 1 – Sunset Silhouette

Exploring the delicate balance between pigment and water, discover the unique properties of watercolour and learn the basic techniques such as wet-on-dry and wet-on-wet painting. you will use these techniques to create a stunning sunset sky with a silhouette skyline.

Week 2 – Painting Leaves

Discover all the different greens that can be mixed from a limited palette. You will paint leaves and learn observation skills. You will also learn how to lift out paint to create the veins of the leaf.

Week 3 – Painting Fruit from Life

Using the observation skills learned from the previous sessions, you will paint a simple still life of one piece of fruit with a shadow. You will learn dry brushing and how to mix a shadow colour.

Week 4 – Painting Pansies

Creating gorgeous purples to bring these happy little flowers to life. Working from a photograph, you will learn how to identify amd create the colours. You will then work wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry, focusing on detail.

 

All materials and refreshments included but please feel free to bring your own paints and brushes if you prefer.
