Vote! Vote! Vote for Sammi Wong’s Mural

Posted on November 11, 2025 by Sam Sherman

Our very own Sammi Wong, who created the piece used on the temporary mural on the side on the Silo Building and Industrial Abseiling Ltd who installed the work are up for a National Award!

Sammi is a first-class Graphic Design Illustration BA (Hons) graduate at the University of Suffolk.  Sammi has led and delivered visual displays and installations at Colchester + Ipswich Museum Service, this includes major exhibitions partnering with regional and national museums such as the Fitzwilliam, the Tate, and the British Museum on ‘Rodin: Kiss & Tell’, ‘Ed Sheeran: Made In Suffolk’, and ‘Adorn: Jewellery, The Human Story’ exhibition.

Sammi’s original World Illustration Award-winning piece celebrates innovation, history, and community. It’s been adapted to retain a key local icon – DiGBY the blue octopus, created by artist John D. Edwards and painted on the side of Paul’s Silo over ten years ago.   The piece was commissioned by Ipswich Central,  with permission from Ipswich Borough Council for use of the building to display the canvas work.

We’d love to help support her and bring the award to Ipswich…

The Sign Industry Awards celebrate excellence in the visual communications sector by honouring past achievements, present innovations, and future advancements.

If you would like to support and are able, please vote here, then skip to the second page of awards for ‘Best Wayfinding Scheme’ and vote for ‘Way around Ipswich, Industrial Abseiling Ltd’
