The Suffolk Show sits right on the edge of Ipswich, making it one of the easiest big days out for families, schools and community groups across the town. With free parking, shuttle buses from the train station and acres of space to explore, it’s become a real community tradition – the kind of event where neighbours bump into each other, children race between zones with painted faces, and local businesses proudly showcase what makes Suffolk special.

More than just a major county event, the Show acts as a shared celebration of Ipswich, Suffolk and its surrounding rural communities. Whether you’re coming with family, meeting friends, or joining a local group for a day out, it’s a chance to enjoy everything from farming heritage to food, sport, creativity and nature – all in one place, just minutes from town.
With five weeks to go until the return of the Suffolk Show, organisers are gearing up to welcome around 85,000 visitors to Trinity Park in Ipswich for the county’s biggest celebration of food, farming and rural life.
Taking place during the May half-term (27-28 May), the much-loved two-day event, organised by the Suffolk Agricultural Association, is a highlight in the local calendar, bringing together the very best of East Anglian farming and agriculture, independent makers, artisan food producers, sport, military and more.
Spanning across 300 acres, the Suffolk Show offers hundreds of things to see and do for free, including action-packed displays across 12 competition rings. This year visitors can look to the skies for the incredibly return of the RAF Falcons and Red Devils Parachute Display Teams on the Wednesday and Thursday respectively, hosted in the Collins Grand Ring, or the popular Mascot Derby in the Nuffield Health President’s Ring.
Around the Showground there are 10 ‘zones’ packed with interactive have-a-go activities and games, from the Schools Show Garden Competition in the Glasswells Flower and Garden Experience, to mighty machinery and combat vehicles in the Military Zone hosted by local military organisations and charities.
Farming and agriculture remains at the core of the Suffolk Show, with giant farm machinery in action in the Farming Live area, this year sharing the story of maize harvesting. The Farm Discovery Zone is a popular area where children can meet farm animals, climb a straw pyramid, or ride on a mini tractor. This year’s ‘Net to Plate’ display will tell a story of East Anglia’s local fisheries and their communities, demonstrating the catch process and how fishing benefits the local economy, sustainability, traceability and seasonality.
The Nature Zone offers a peaceful spot to try pond dipping and bug hunting, while the Sports Village is filled with free sports and games including BMX cycling, dance, climbing, and challenges with Ipswich Town Football Club. The Emergency Services Zone is another favourite, where visitors can meet their local blue-light heroes, sit in a rapid response vehicle or have a go on a mini motorbike.
Alongside family entertainment, the Suffolk Show is a major platform for the county’s independent businesses with over 800 tradestands around the site. Visitors can browse local produce in the Adnams Food and Drink Experience, experience global street food on Greene King Eat Street, discover boutique fashion brands on Dummett Copp Fifth Avenue and the Lifestyle Avenue, meet local painters and sculptors in the Art Show, or support independent makers in the Rural Craft Area.
The Suffolk Show is organised by the Suffolk Agricultural Association, a charity which delivers year-round education programmes in food, farming and the environment for schools and young people across the county.
Advance adult tickets cost £38 when purchased online, with children under 15 going free. Free parking is available on site, and shuttle buses will run between Ipswich Train Station and the showground on both event days.
