A New Place to Turn: Footsteps Walking With You Opens Counselling Hub in Ipswich
Every young person faces challenges. Whether it’s anxiety, school pressures, family difficulties, grief, loneliness or simply feeling overwhelmed, having someone to talk to can make all the difference.
That’s why it’s great news for Ipswich that Footsteps Walking With You has opened a new counselling hub at Holly Lodge Baptist Church on Bramford Lane.

The Suffolk charity has been supporting children and young people aged 8 to 25 for several years, helping them navigate life’s ups and downs through professional counselling and therapeutic support. Their new Ipswich base joins their existing hub at Quay Church in Woodbridge, making it easier for families across the county to access help when they need it most.
What stands out about Footsteps is their commitment to making support accessible. The charity works hard to ensure that cost is never a barrier to children and young people getting the help they need.
Recognising that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to wellbeing, Footsteps offers a range of services including face-to-face counselling, online sessions, family therapy, walk-and-talk counselling and child-led approaches tailored to individual needs.
The referral process is refreshingly simple too. Young people can refer themselves, while parents, carers, teachers, health professionals and friends can also help connect someone with support.
As conversations around mental health continue to grow, having local organisations providing compassionate, professional care within the community has never been more important.
The opening of this new hub is another positive step for Ipswich, helping ensure more young people in our town and across Suffolk know they don’t have to face life’s challenges alone.
