It’s an action: a radical instruction.  So in this space we encourage you to challenge our sense of what is possible and to expand our perceptions & depictions of bodies and gender. to celebrate the artist and model’s power to disrupt binaries and essentialisms and to create these joyous alternatives to the structures and ways of being we have been told we are limited by.’

We are Liminal Gaze Collective, a queer artist run collective based in Ipswich. Every month, usually on the second to last Sunday we host untutored and non hierarchical Queer Life Drawing classes.

Our events are organised, run and facilitated by members of the queer community, and our models are also from a variety of queer identities. Our approach is model centred so the model has run of the space, allowing them to present as they wish and engage us as artists in conversations about queer identity, and the disruption of gendered and hetero-normative ideals.  This is a great social event that connects us to a community of artists and queer folk. Our sessions are relaxed, and focused on connection with one another, facilitators and the life model. We have a laugh, sometimes there are snacks and after a session we like to go to the pub after.

We charge for our sessions to ensure that we have access to the venue, are able to pay our life models and invest in future projects for the collective. We run a sliding pay scale for our tickets as we believe that everyone should have access to art, education and community.Unwaged/Concession is for students, and those on benefits and is £4.00.  Standard is for those of us who are working and is £7.00.  Solidarity is for those of us who can give a little more, meaning we can build towards more events in the future as well as make sure we can continue to offer unwaged/concession tickets to your fellow artists. This is £10.00
