Free Meeting Space Available for Ipswich Community Groups

Posted on October 1, 2026 by Sam Sherman

Finding affordable meeting space can be one of the biggest challenges facing local charities, volunteer groups and community organisations. Whether it’s organising a committee meeting, planning an event, interviewing volunteers or running a training session, having access to a suitable venue can make a real difference.

That’s why a generous offer from a local business could be welcome news for groups across Ipswich.

M Group, which operates on behalf of Suffolk County Council from its offices at Phoenix House on Goddard Road in west Ipswich, is making its meeting rooms available free of charge specifically to local charities, community groups and not-for-profit initiatives.

The company says it is keen to support the local community wherever possible and hopes the space can help organisations that may be working with limited budgets or struggling to find suitable venues for meetings and activities.

Who Can Use the Space?

The offer is open to:

  • Registered charities and CICs
  • Community groups
  • Volunteer-led organisations
  • Not-for-profit projects
  • Community initiatives serving local people

Whether you’re supporting residents, organising local activities, running a campaign, helping vulnerable people or simply bringing neighbours together around a shared interest, the facilities may provide a useful base for meetings and events.

What’s Available?

Phoenix House offers a selection of meeting rooms capable of accommodating groups of up to 20 people.

The rooms can be used for a wide range of purposes, including:

  • Community and committee meetings
  • Volunteer training sessions
  • Recruitment interviews
  • Workshops and learning activities
  • Planning meetings
  • Collaborative projects/Networking and partnership events

Each room includes audio-visual equipment suitable for presentations, online meetings and video conferencing. Visitors also have access to a small kitchen area and complimentary hot drinks, while flipcharts and marker pens can be provided if needed.

Supporting Local Community Activity

Across Ipswich, hundreds of volunteers give their time every week to improve life in the town. From neighbourhood projects and environmental initiatives to support groups, creative organisations and community events, much of this valuable work happens behind the scenes.

Practical support such as free meeting space can help these groups focus their energy and resources where they are needed most: supporting local people and building stronger communities.

The offer also reflects the growing recognition that businesses and organisations can play an important role in community life by sharing the resources they have available.

How to Book

Meeting rooms are available between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, subject to availability, and can be booked up to two weeks in advance.  Bookings to be made via via email to Adam Mitchell,  at Adam.Mitchell@mgroupltd.com

Community groups interested in finding out more, checking availability or arranging a visit are encouraged to get in touch directly with M Group to discuss their requirements.

For local charities and community organisations looking for a welcoming and well-equipped meeting space, this could be a valuable resource right here in Ipswich.

Are you involved in a local charity, volunteer project or community group? We’d love to hear how spaces like this help support the people and projects making a difference across Ipswich.
