Join SoapBox Spoken Word CIC for a very special edition of ‘Word Herd’ at CHIp studio (16 Turret Lane). BYOB. Free entry, donations welcomed for Suffolk Pride, to support their year-round programme of welbeing groups, workshops, activities, gigs and events that support & celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.
We are chuffed to welcome back to SoapBox, one of our favourite poets – Leo George – an extraordinary Ipswich based writer, performer & artist who we’ve seen knock the socks off of Festival goers for years. Always beautifully authentic, honest, funny and insightful. An all-round artist, their illustrated zines are much beloved.
In support we welcome back the marvellous – Jem Hartley – always the most fabulously dressed open-micer at Words & Verses, they have been splitting our sides for the few years we’ve been lucky enough to know them. A ranter, a raver, a joyful and furious celebrator of life, their poetry packs a punch in all the right places.
Our first poet of the ‘Word Herd Pride Special’ is Lu, a relative newcomer to spoken word, we have affectionately nicknamed them ‘Poet in-residence of the Ipswich Star facebook page’ because of their seriously funny and accurate satire of the comments section.
Word Herd Pride Special is free entry, and BYOB. (No bar on-site) and its an accessible venue. Doors open 7pm starts 7.30pm, Doors closed by 10pm at the latest. Hosted by Amy Wragg.
