Information - Placemaking: Ipswich History
These illustrated sessions look at the history of Ipswich through it’s (often hidden and underrated) architectural treasures, from it’s Medieval wealth, through Victorian prosperity, to the regeneration of the waterfront.
Along the way we will discover ‘Placemaking’, a term devised in the 1970s and used by Urban Planners, Architects and Landscape Designers to describe the aspiration of creating high quality public realm spaces.
Course leader, John Field is an Urban Planner and Landscape Architect with many years planning experience, including 26 years in Ipswich. He is a Fellow of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
