Information - Mosaic Positivity Plaques Workshop with Emma Jayne Robertson

Join ceramic artist Emma Jayne Robertson for this free creative workshop for 10-16 year olds! Design and create your own work of art, using a mixture of broken ceramic and glass pieces and other found objects, making a beautiful mosaic relief. This workshop is part of The Blank Page Project.

Workshops take place from 9.45AM to 3.30PM and include a free lunch, drinks and snacks!

You will start the day designing your plaque. The idea is to incorporate a quotation or words into the design that encourages a positive attitude going into the New Year. Emma will provide templates of motifs and lettering for you to trace and put together to create your piece promoting positive thinking.

After this, you will create your mosaic piece using a whole range of colourful media; broken crockery, mirror pieces, coloured glass, tile offcuts, buttons, shells and more. It is a great way to recycle! You can bring along any old, broken ceramic pieces, small shells, odd jewellery items or gems, that you might like to incorporate into your mosaic too. (Remember, these things will be broken up and permanently cemented into your mosaic, so make sure that they are suitable for this purpose; no family heirlooms!)

Your work will be taken away at the end of the day to be grouted and polished. It will be delivered back to the library for you to collect at a later date (approx. 2 weeks).
