Information - A Mythological Journey – New Forms from Old Tales

We are delighted to be welcoming inspirational sculptor Olivia Musgrave to the Mansion next week, and we hope that you can join us.

Olivia was born in Dublin but has lived in Suffolk for the past 25 years. She studied at the City and Guilds Art School in London in the 1980’s, and alongside her personal work (with solo exhibitions in South Africa, Ireland and America), she has completed numerous portrait and public commissions in bronze. We are thrilled that examples of Olivia‘s work will be on display in the Great Hall next week.

Her work is drawn both from life and from the imagination where she draws inspiration from Greek mythology, as well as influences from 20th- century Italian sculptors, including Marini, Martini, Greco and Manzu.

She is a Fellow the Royal Society of British Sculptors and as the former President of the Society of Portrait Sculptors, her thoughts on portraiture will be of special interest in advance of our Constable portraits exhibition next year.

Olivia has been with the John Martin Gallery since 1996, and she regularly exhibits at John’s Suffolk gallery Spirit Studios near Saxmundham. At our event next week, she will be in conversation with John, and they will discuss her inspiration and notably her thoughts about mythology, a constant theme in her work over the years.

Please book via contact@foim.org.uk
