Are you stuck in a pub rut?
Sometimes it’s nice to have a favourite local – you know what drinks they serve, you might have a favourite table and enjoy seeing familiar faces.
But what if you were a bit more adventurous? What if you wanted to discover new places to eat and drink in Ipswich?
Maybe you’re in a group of friends who want to find something different to do one weekend?
Help is at hand – and you could win yourself some lovely Ipswich-themed prizes by taking part. If you’re looking for something to do in the next few weeks, take a look at the Sip’Swich drinks trails.
By collecting stamps from various pubs and bars around the town centre, you could earn a beautiful bandana for a beloved dog, a collectable enamel pin badge of Wolsey’s gate for your bucket hat or even an eco-friendly re-usable coffee cup complete with its own handy travel bag.
There are two trails
- Dog Friendly
- Historic Ipswich
Complete both trails by visiting all 15 pubs before the end of April to earn the main prize of the coffee cup. Stamps can be collected by buying a drink in each bar. It doesn’t have to be beer – coffee, soft drinks, spirits and cocktails all count. Apart from buying the drinks, it’s entirely free to take part. Most of the bars taking part also serve food so why not get together with a group and friends and make a day of it?
Find out more here www.allaboutipswich.com/sipswich. You can print your own trail card from this link or pick up a card in any participating pub or bar.
The pubs and bars taking part are:
- Arcade Street Tavern
- Boom Battle Bar

Over the next few weeks, people participating in Sip’Swich will also have the chance to win various spot prizes with themes varying from cutest pup wearing the bandana to doing the trail in fancy dress. Full details will be on the All About Ipswich social media feeds so give them a follow on Facebook, Instagram and Tik Tok so you don’t miss a thing.
Sip’Swich has been brought to you as a joint venture between Ipswich Borough Council and Ipswich Central to support the town’s pubs and bars.
Lee Walker from Ipswich Central told us about the prize for completing the full trail. He said: “We wanted to offer a quality prize that people would find useful rather than something cheap and disposable – the cups are really stylish and I’m expecting demand to be high so urge people not to dilly dally collecting all 15 stamps as stocks are limited.”
Councillor Neil MacDonald, Ipswich Borough Council Leader, says: “The centre of Ipswich has some wonderful bars and pubs, each with its own unique character and ambience. I hope people will enjoy discovering somewhere different to go for a drink or a meal out. Many dog owners tell me they aren’t sure where they can take their canine friends, and this will also help those people find places that will make their dogs welcome.”
