A One-of-a-Kind Tribute: Classic Honda Rebuild Raises Funds for Local Youth Charity

Posted on November 6, 2025 by Miranda Acres

A lovingly restored Honda CB500, rebuilt in memory of a lost friend, is now being raffled to raise money for Inspire, the Ipswich-based youth charity helping young people build brighter futures.

Man in a white teeshirt leaning over the saddle of a black motorcycleMotorcycle enthusiast Jack Taylor began the project after losing his close friend Harley George Snowling in January 2020, just before the pandemic. Wanting to honour Harley’s memory, Jack set himself an ambitious challenge: to completely rebuild a vintage Honda CB500 from the ground up.

The process tested every bit of his mechanical know-how. Overcoming countless obstacles and technical hurdles, Jack brought the bike back to life piece by piece. The result is a stunning one-off machine that blends classic style with modern performance – featuring a rebored and repainted engine, twin-disc brakes, upgraded suspension, and a custom leather seat.

“It felt like a meaningful way to raise awareness around male suicide and mental health, while also supporting the brilliant work Inspire does with young people,” Jack explained.

Jack and Harley first met while studying at the International Boatbuilding Training College in Lowestoft. They quickly became close friends and housemates, bonding over a shared love of motorcycles – Jack even taught Harley to ride his first bike.

“Harley would have loved the styling and the story behind it,” said Jack. “I just hope whoever wins it sees the passion that went into every detail, and that it helps Inspire continue supporting young people to find their way forward.”

Sara Warburton, Inspire’s Events and Fundraising Manager, added:

“We’re so grateful for Jack’s time and dedication in creating this incredible tribute. His generosity means so much to everyone who knew Harley, and to the young people we help every day. For every £1,000 raised, we can offer 48 young people their first counselling session – so this project will truly change lives.”

Tickets for the raffle are £5 each, with bundle options available online. The draw closes Sunday 14 December 2025 at midnight, and every entry offers the chance to own a remarkable classic while helping fund essential youth services.
