Future Female Society is celebrating its 10th anniversary with the announcement of a major £259,832 award from The National Lottery Community Fund, which will support its work with women and girls in Suffolk for the next three years.
The funding marks an exciting new chapter for the Ipswich-based organisation, enabling Future Female Society (FFS) to continue and develop a range of projects designed to build confidence, wellbeing, skills, connections and opportunities for local women and girls.
The announcement of the award will be made at the ‘10 Years of Future Female Society’ Community Party taking place at The Hold in Ipswich on Saturday 3 October, from 12 noon to 4pm.
The three-year funding will support a programme of activities including:
More Than Mum
A 10-week personal development programme supporting women to explore their identity, confidence, aspirations and personal development beyond their role as mothers.Woman2Woman Radio
A dedicated project for migrant and refugee women, providing a platform to share experiences, develop skills, build connections and have their voices heard.
Girls Where You AT?
A girls’ youth social action project, giving girls opportunities to come together, develop their ideas and take positive action within their communities.
The funding will also enable Future Female Society to continue its popular community activities, including monthly coffee mornings, quarterly Happiness Brunches and a series of women’s wellbeing workshops.
The award comes as Future Female Society celebrates a decade of bringing women and girls together and creating spaces where people can connect, learn, express themselves and support one another.
A decade of community
The funding announcement will form part of a special community party celebrating 10 years of Future Female Society. The event, presented by Future Female Society and Suffolk Archives, with support from Suffolk County Council and the Suffolk Community Fund, will bring the community together for an afternoon of food, entertainment, creativity and celebration.
Activities will include:
- Multicultural fashion show
- Live performances
- Talent show
- Badge and bag making
- Face painting
- Community choir
- Lunch and refreshments
The event will celebrate the people and communities who have been part of FFS’s journey over the past decade, while looking ahead to the organisation’s next chapter.
Kim Trotter, Founder and CEO at Future Female Society, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be celebrating 10 years of Future Female Society with this incredible news.
The £259,832 award from The National Lottery Community Fund will make a huge difference to what we are able to offer over the next three years. It means we can continue projects that are already making a difference while also creating new opportunities for women, girls, migrant and refugee women and the wider community.
Our 10th anniversary is a chance to celebrate how far we have come, but also to look forward. We are excited about the next three years and about continuing to create spaces where women and girls can feel connected, supported, valued and empowered.
Ten years ago, we could not have imagined the journey we would take. What started with a desire to create opportunities and bring women together has grown into a community of women, girls, families, volunteers and partners who continue to inspire us every day. This party is also a big thank you to all of them.
This funding allows us to build on that legacy and invest in the future.
We are incredibly grateful to The National Lottery Community Fund for believing in our work.
