Information - Talk: Jamestown Brides

Join author Jennifer Potter for a fascinating talk about her book the Jamestown Brides: the bartered Wives of the New World.

In 1621, fifty-six English women crossed the Atlantic in response to the Virginia company of London’s call for maids to make wives for the planters of its new colony in Virginia.

What did the women want from the scheme? Why did they agree to make the perilous crossing to a wild and dangerous land? And what happened to them in the end?

Ticket includes a cup of tea or coffee.
Ages 16+
Approximate duration 1 hour.
