The history of the Ipswich Fine Art Club (now renamed Ipswich Art Society) and development of the Ipswich Borough art collection are inextricably intertwined. In 1874 the artist John Duvall, industrialist Edward Packard and head of the art school William Griffiths were among the founding members and all are represented in the collection.
