Information - Stone Conservation – what happens behind the scenes – Heritage Open Days

Stone conservator Antonia Hockton will share her experience and her stories of her conservation work giving examples and photos of a variety of stonework projects she has worked on. Antonia is also an artistic stone sculptor.

Antonia Hockton will give a talk on stone conservation and restoration. For over 30 years she has quietly worked behind the scenes, to keep our heritage buildings and monuments going. Initially training at Lincoln Cathedral, her skills have taken her to heritage sites all around this country and France. Patience and a head for heights are essential, but what else does the job entail? Find out by coming to the Unitarian Meeting House, Ipswich on 16th September 7pm.

The theme of architecture for this year’s Heritage Open Days fits well with this presentation which will be held in the Grade 1 listed Ipswich Unitarian Meeting House.

You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Involved In Pride in Place

One of the biggest misconceptions about community projects is that they're only for people with impressive CVs, professional backgrounds or years of experience sitting on committees. The Pride in Place programme - a government investment for Whitehouse and Stoke Park/Chantry of £20m into each area over 10 years - is trying to change that.
