Information - Sewing Basics’ course

This one-day class is the perfect fit for you if you have just started out, or have never even used a sewing machine before. We will teach you:

  • How to wind a bobbin.
  • How to thread your machine, top and bottom.
  • How to balance your tensions.
  • How to choose an appropriate stitch.
  • Changing stitch length.
  • Changing stitch width.
  • Changing your needle and your presser foot.
  • Different needle types and different presser feet – why you would choose one over the other

You will feel comfortable using a machine so that together we can make a small sewing project together, like a tote bag, by the end of the class.

This class is designed to help you gain the confidence you need to continue your sewing journey once you get home. Learning some of the basic rules of sewing will give you the best start to help you flourish in your new hobby.

Supplied: Machines, Fabric, Scissors, Pins, Tape Measures, Haberdashery, Tea and Coffee.

Required: Lunch.

Classes are suitable for everyone over the age of 18.

Pride in Place

You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Involved In Pride in Place

One of the biggest misconceptions about community projects is that they're only for people with impressive CVs, professional backgrounds or years of experience sitting on committees. The Pride in Place programme - a government investment for Whitehouse and Stoke Park/Chantry of £20m into each area over 10 years - is trying to change that.
