Information - PLAYGROUND from Eastern Angles

Eastern Angles would like to welcome you to PLAYGROUND, a free community micro-fest for all ages! Taking place on The Cornhill in Ipswich town centre on Saturday 22nd March.

PLAYGROUND will showcase the work of New Angles youth Theatre and their short play, The Girl That Cried Shuck.

“Our youth theatre is only a year old and is full of wonderful young people that are just at the beginning of what their creative journeys could be so what was important for for us was to create a world of play around them to perform the stories they have been making this past year

The Girl that Cried Shuck is a devised piece of theatre created by our youth theatre and has been inspired by the local myth Black shuck. The young people loved exploring this dark and gruesome myth and asking the question why do we people tell stories?”  Kirsty Tallent – Creative Communities Coordinator.

The day of events will also include activities by local creative practitioners, Suffolk Libraries and performances from New Wolsey Theatre. There will be a free community breakfast provided by Cafe Myra and a film screening in the early evening.

You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Involved In Pride in Place

One of the biggest misconceptions about community projects is that they're only for people with impressive CVs, professional backgrounds or years of experience sitting on committees. The Pride in Place programme - a government investment for Whitehouse and Stoke Park/Chantry of £20m into each area over 10 years - is trying to change that.
