Information - MR James Ghost Stories performance

Join gothic storyteller Matthew Wood of Edwyrdian Tales for haunting ghost stories from the pen of Montague Rhodes James, provost of King’s College, Cambridge, and writer of some of the finest gems that still haunt the English literary canon. Monty often told his own tales by the fireside to his friends and students enthralling them with his medievalist’s eye for sinister relics of the past.

Matthew Wood will be performing two of M.R. James’ most famous Suffolk-based ghost tales: ‘Rats’ and ‘A Warning to the Curious.’

Suitable for families who like ghost stories, and adults. Each performance lasts for 20 minutes.

Not suitable for children under 6.

Part of the mini festival day: Warnings to the Curious: A Centenary of Suffolk Ghost Stories
Join us and celebrate the centenary of M.R. James’ final ghost story collection, ‘A Warning to the Curious and Other Ghost Stories’.

Talk: The Geography of Horror with Simon Loxley at 2pm
As well as Ghost Stories Family crafts from 10:30-2:30

This event is delivered in partnership with the English Department and the Centre for Culture and Heritage at the University of Suffolk.

You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Involved In Pride in Place

One of the biggest misconceptions about community projects is that they're only for people with impressive CVs, professional backgrounds or years of experience sitting on committees. The Pride in Place programme - a government investment for Whitehouse and Stoke Park/Chantry of £20m into each area over 10 years - is trying to change that.
