Information - Launch of SoapBox People

To mark the beginning of our new membership project – SoapBox People – we are holding a very special event, featuring fearless & funny spoken word performances from some of our members, and a famous guest too.

We are absolutely delighted to welcome Johnny Marriott – from Pet Needs – back to SoapBox for a spoken word set, his first in over half a decade. If you attended any SoapBox gigs about 10 years ago, you will remember this talented chap. He played on our very first Festival stage back in 2012, and performed at countless SoapBox gigs after that, both as a poet, a songwriter, and a musician.

Known for his skilful and poetic lyrics, energetic stage performances, and authenticity, Johnny Marriott is the front man of the burgeoning Essex punk/rock band Pet Needs. Pioneered by Frank Turner, and signed to Xtra Mile Recordings, we are insanely lucky to be able to grab him for one night in between an extremely busy tour season, where the band, and their amazing community (Fractured Party People) are taking on UK and America by storm.

We will welcome some of our incredible members to share their poems & stories with us all, including performances from SoapBox People members: Jackie Montague, Ellen Clayton, Philip Rösel Baker, Rachel Davy, Tülin Silverwind, (and more to be confirmed). Hosted by Amy Wragg.

Entry is FREE (plus one) for SoapBox People members.

There are some (limited) public tickets available at £5 each (plus 10% booking fee), which can be bought online through WeGotIckets >>> HERE <<< Please note, tickets will NOT be available on the door, and entry to the pub will be limited to members & ticket holders only.
