Information - La Bola Negra (15)
La Bola Negra, from directors Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi, screens twice at King Street Cinema — Spain’s official entry for Best International Film at the Academy Awards.
The film
Three men’s lives are linked through desire, pain and inheritance across three eras: 1932, 1937 and 2017. Rich with Lorca’s poetry, it is at once an intimate love story and an exploration of memory, inheritance and queer history, honouring those whose lives and loves were too often forced into silence. It won Best Director at Cannes, the People’s Choice Award at Toronto and the Audience Award at San Sebastián.
