Information - International Women’s Day: Workshop + DJ Set

Looking for a meaningful and creative way to celebrate International Women’s Day this year? Head down to the beautiful surroundings of The Church on Sunday, 8th March, for a day dedicated to creativity, community, and great music.

Get Creative: Feminist Zine-Making Workshop

As part of the celebrations, Uwu Studio will be hosting a brilliant feminist zine-making workshop. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or haven’t picked up a glue stick since school, this is a safe and welcoming space to express yourself.

You’ll have access to a treasure trove of materials including collage cut-outs, decorative tape, various papers, and vibrant paint pens. All materials are included in the ticket price, and “good vibes” are absolutely guaranteed! It’s the perfect opportunity to create something unique while connecting with others in the community.

Please note: While the cafe is free to enter, spaces for the workshop are limited and must be booked in advance via Eventbrite.

Tunes and Atmosphere with DJ Mello Jamz

If you aren’t taking part in the workshop, you are still more than welcome to join the fun! DJ Mello Jamz will be providing the soundtrack for the day, spinning a specially curated selection of tracks that celebrate the incredible contribution of women in music.

The cafe and bar will be open from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, making it a lovely spot to grab a drink, enjoy the music, and soak up the positive atmosphere. Best of all? Entry to the cafe and the DJ set is completely free!

A Welcoming Space for All

The Church is committed to being an inclusive venue. There is full step-free access into the building, and the bar, main venue area, and accessible toilets are all located on the same floor. The organisers want everyone to feel at home, so if you have any specific needs to make your visit more comfortable, feel free to get in touch with the venue team ahead of time.

You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Involved In Pride in Place

One of the biggest misconceptions about community projects is that they're only for people with impressive CVs, professional backgrounds or years of experience sitting on committees. The Pride in Place programme - a government investment for Whitehouse and Stoke Park/Chantry of £20m into each area over 10 years - is trying to change that.
