Information - Creative Takeover – Art Workshops

Art Workshops

Watercolour, Clay & Textile Exploration

Join Marie and Jitka for relaxed and inspiring art, watercolour, textile and mixed media workshops.

Our work is deeply therapeutic, exploring the balance between defined shapes, lines, and textures and the free-flowing transparency of brightly coloured pigments. We follow the same approach in our textile pieces, allowing the printing process to guide the form, mood, and final outcome.

Inspiration comes from our travels, encounters with fascinating cultures, and quiet walks around the Suffolk landscape. We let memories and images settle, blend with inner patterns, and then allow the unpredictable nature of eachmedia to take over.

Art has a unique way of bringing people together. Creating alongside others brings a sense of connection, openness, and shared creative energy. Each workshop is shaped by the group itself, making every session a one-of-a-kind experience. These small, welcoming groups offer wellbeing benefits, new skills, and the chance to meet like-minded people

On alternate Wednesday afternoons, as part of our Creative Takeover

Katy Mac will host A Creative Sewing & Upcycling Workshop With Katy Mac

Don’t throw it away

Bring it. Reimagine it. Reinvent it.

Got something in your wardrobe that almost works… but never quite gets worn?
Sleeves too long or too wide, a hem that’s off, or a fit that just doesn’t feel like you?

Bring it along and learn how to alter, mend, or upcycle it into something you’ll actually love wearing.

This relaxed, supportive workshop is all about building confidence with sewing, while working on a real piece from your own wardrobe. Kate will guide you step-by-step, helping you adapt garments to suit your body shape, personal style, and creative ideas.

This workshop is for you if:

You’ve never sewn before but fancy an adventure—learning how to plan, source sustainable materials, and create a garment for yourself or a loved one

You can do some basic sewing and would love help working through a pattern

You’ve started a project and got stuck, frustrated, or unsure what to do next

You want to repair, reshape, or completely transform an existing piece rather than throwing it away

Expect an easygoing afternoon of mending, clever alterations, creative problem-solving, and hands-on learning. It’s also a lovely chance to meet new people, share ideas, and enjoy sewing together in a friendly, creative space.

Whether you’re fixing a simple hem or reworking an old favourite into something brand new, you’ll leave with new skills and a piece that feels right again.

Homemade cakes and refreshments available to purchase throughout the session.

No pressure, no perfection, just creativity, sustainability, good company, and sewing at your own pace.

£5 per session

These wednesday afternoon workshops are hosted every other week.
