About IDOL FRET

Get ready for a blast of fast, hard riffs that will raise hairs and pump your blood! IDOL FRET delivers an eclectic mix of punk tunes — some familiar, some deep cuts — but all with a vibe, a sensibility, and an attitude you can’t ignore. Their music is a righteous two fingers to The Man (or, at least, your parents), blending history and passion to give both longtime fans and newcomers a fresh look at punk’s rebellious spirit.

The band members are a lively mix of musicians with roots in the local scene:

  • Andrew (drums) and Shaun (bass) bring their experience from Suffolk punk legends 13th Chime.
  • Nick (guitar) combines his love for guitars with past work in the electro house duo Doi-oing.
  • Ewan (guitar) adds raw power with his background in the local band Shuck, aiming to “scare the horses.”
  • Lisa brings a secret “Siouxsie sauce” injecting gothic pop sensibility into the mix.
  • Carl lives his teenage dream by fronting the band with electrifying energy.

Accessibility Information

The Smokehouse offers step-free access and is all on one floor, making it easier for everyone to enjoy the night. There is also a Changing Places toilet located just across the courtyard from the venue. As this is a small venue, please reach out ahead if you have any specific accessibility needs – the team is happy to help make your visit as comfortable as possible.

Why You Should Come

This isn’t just a concert; it’s a chance to experience punk as a vital and exciting force. Remember how punk helped reshape rock music with its loud, snotty attitude and unrelenting energy? Well, IDOL FRET and their fellow bands are keeping that spirit alive and kicking, delivering an unforgettable evening filled with high-energy tunes and a true do-it-yourself ethos.

Whether you’re already a punk fan or simply curious, join us at The Smokehouse on Friday 9 January to enjoy three fantastic bands and a night full of music and fun!

You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Involved In Pride in Place

One of the biggest misconceptions about community projects is that they're only for people with impressive CVs, professional backgrounds or years of experience sitting on committees. The Pride in Place programme - a government investment for Whitehouse and Stoke Park/Chantry of £20m into each area over 10 years - is trying to change that.
