Information - Hatched, Matched and Dispatched – Village History revealed through the records of the Parish Church
For nearly a millennia the humble Parish Church was at the epicentre of the lives of the local community – not only serving as a spiritual centre from cradle to grave, but as an administrative hub, source of health and social services, collector of taxes, and legal enforcer of personal morality. Led by Stephen Poulter, this course looks at the many different types of documents and manuscripts produced by ecclesiastical organisations which tell the stories of ordinary parishioners from the Tudors to the 19th Century.
