Information - Finn Collinson – Byway Album Launch

Pioneering Suffolk-based folk musician Finn Collinson presents a one-off homecoming concert in Ipswich to celebrate the release of his third album Byway.

Byway is an instrumental journey around the UK told through original and traditional melodies. His first release in three years, the album showcases Finn’s acoustic roots with his celebrated and distinctive recorder style at its heart. Based on traditional dance tunes and structures, subtle influences from the Baroque masters, chamber music, indie rock and modern pop make this Finn’s most adventurous and personal music to date.

Joined on stage by his regular touring band, and album collaborators, Archie Churchill-Moss on guitar (Seth Lakeman, Sam Sweeney) and Evan Carson on bodhran (Steve Knightley, Sam Kelly), Finn has drawn inspiration from his travels, telling powerful stories without a single word. After a successful preview tour in November 2025, Finn and the band will perform the new album in full, and it will be available to purchase on CD for the first time on the night.

Last seen at the Eastern Angles Centre in 2025 as Musical Director of Shake Festival’s stage production of Akenfield, Finn has also toured with acclaimed ceilidh band Stroma, and worked as a folk educator for organisations including Britten Pears Arts, Halsway Manor and FolkEast.

“Three of the finest folk musicians on the circuit” – FATEA

“Collinson has both the chops and the vision to take his music in many directions” – RNR

“I strongly recommend you take every opportunity to catch them live” – KLOF

“Finn is regarded as a leading exponent of the recorder, and deservedly so. Hearing it played as well as it is here, makes me wonder why it’s not heard more in folk music” – Folking

You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Involved In Pride in Place

One of the biggest misconceptions about community projects is that they're only for people with impressive CVs, professional backgrounds or years of experience sitting on committees. The Pride in Place programme - a government investment for Whitehouse and Stoke Park/Chantry of £20m into each area over 10 years - is trying to change that.
