Information - Constable 250 Adult Poetry Workshop: Art as Inspiration for Poetry

On Saturday 20th February from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM, join local poet Sue Wallace-Shaddad for a poetry workshop on the theme of ekphrasis (poetic responses to art).

Art can be a springboard for a writer. The group will consider how creativity can be inspired by art in the way that artists have been inspired by Constable. You will write about art works after looking at different ways poets have approached this. Prompts for quick writing exercises will be provided, and you will have the opportunity (optional) to share your drafts with others.

This workshop is 3 hours long and includes a short break. Suitable for ages 18+.

The Constable 250 project is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we are able to deliver Constable inspired family holiday workshops March 2026-March 2027.

This event will take place in the Lower Tudor Room, which is located on the Ground Floor. For useful information, such as how to find us and what facilities Christchurch Mansion has, we recommend reading our Access information: Access at Christchurch Mansion

You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Involved In Pride in Place

One of the biggest misconceptions about community projects is that they're only for people with impressive CVs, professional backgrounds or years of experience sitting on committees. The Pride in Place programme - a government investment for Whitehouse and Stoke Park/Chantry of £20m into each area over 10 years - is trying to change that.
