Information - Bug home building at The Woolpack pub

Come and make a bug home to encourage more insects to live in your garden and help us make a ‘Wilder Suffolk’. We’ll have everything you need to make your bug home and we’ll help guide you through the process. This event is kindly supported by The Woolpack Pub, and we are excited to host this partnership event together.

This event is an outside event, please dress for the weather. We will be building the bug homes outside, but why not pop inside afterwards to grab a cold drink? Drinks and food are not included in the ticket price.

Tickets are to build one bug home, so if you have two children who want to build one each please purchase two tickets, and so on.

This event is suitable for everyone; families and adults welcome. Please book.

These bug homes will be made using local, sustainable wood from Bridge Wood, part of Orwell Country Park in Ipswich. The non-native pine trees in Bridge Wood are gradually being removed in order to replant with native species. This will also open up other areas allowing more light through, benefitting a wealth of different species. The trees have been felled and processed by the Greenways Countryside Project along with volunteers from Ipswich Wildlife Group.
