Information - BTCP: Junior Brother

Get ready for a truly unique musical experience as Brighten The Corners brings the incredible Irish alt-folk singer-songwriter, Junior Brother, to Ipswich this November!

Junior Brother (born Ronan Kealy) is a performer like no other. Hailing from Co. Kerry, he has built a dedicated following through his raw, unfiltered acoustic sets and a sound that pushes the boundaries of traditional Irish music. His style is idiosyncratic and challenging, yet deeply lyrical, earning him a reputation as one of Ireland’s most compelling modern voices.

An Unforgettable Sound

Expect a performance that shifts between a “cracked soul” and a “deranged howl.” Junior Brother’s music uses traditional instrumentation in ways you’ve never heard before—sometimes sounding like peaceful birdsong and other times like the world is coming to an end, all within the same track. It’s this intensity that led MOJO to describe his work as “truly unforgettable.”

This show comes off the back of his critically acclaimed third album, The End, which dropped in late 2025. The album was a massive hit with critics, even landing the number 7 spot on Time Out’s Best Albums of the year!

The Venue & Atmosphere

The beautiful setting of The Church provides the perfect backdrop for this hauntingly beautiful alt-folk performance. With its distinctive acoustics, it’s the ideal place to experience Junior Brother’s powerful voice and rich storytelling.

Accessibility Information

We want everyone to enjoy the show. The venue features step-free access, and the bar, main performance area, and accessible toilets are all conveniently located on a single floor. You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Involved In Pride in Place

One of the biggest misconceptions about community projects is that they're only for people with impressive CVs, professional backgrounds or years of experience sitting on committees. The Pride in Place programme - a government investment for Whitehouse and Stoke Park/Chantry of £20m into each area over 10 years - is trying to change that.
