Experience the Ethereal Sounds of Held By Trees

Brighten The Corners proudly presents an unforgettable evening with the iconic post-rock, ambient, and prog-rock collective, Held By Trees, on Friday 10th April 2026. Join us at The Church, Ipswich for a night filled with beautiful soundscapes and masterful musicianship.

About Held By Trees

Not many bands can claim the living DNA of their chief influences within their sound — but Held By Trees is one of them. Their debut album Solace features contributions from eight Talk Talk/Mark Hollis alumni, plus veterans of Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, Blur, and blues/roots legend Eric Bibb. This unique blend has earned wide critical acclaim, support from Guy Garvey and Stuart Maconie on BBC 6 Music, and airplay on Radio 3.

Released in April 2022, Solace reached number 4 on the official indie chart and number 23 on the physical sales chart, propelled by passionate press and media support for this exciting new project.

Live Performance Line-Up

  • Robbie McIntosh – guitar legend (McCartney, The Pretenders, John Mayer, Talk Talk)
  • Laurence Pendrous – keyboards (Mark Hollis, Anja Garbarek)
  • Paul Beavis – drums (The Waterboys, Andy Fairweather-Low, Bill Wyman)
  • Andy Panayi – flute, clarinet, and saxophone (Ronnie Scott, McCartney, Hollis)

Held By Trees made their live debut in October 2022 and have since captivated audiences across the UK with their improvisational and dynamic performances.

Recent and Upcoming Releases

In late 2022, the band recorded two new EPs at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios: one featuring live tracks from Solace, and another, Eventide, with new music released in summer 2023.

2024 brought Held By Trees’ first collaboration with vocalist Martin Smith, releasing the near 13-minute epic “Lay Your Troubles Down” in June. This was followed by an EP with more collaborations and a short tour featuring Martin as a guest vocalist.

April 2025 saw the release of their second album, Hinterland, which includes contributions from musicians across Supergrass, Slowdive, Swans, Primal Scream, My Bloody Valentine, and more, alongside the returning Talk Talk/Hollis alumni and Mark Hollis’ son, Charlie. The album has earned glowing reviews from Uncut, Prog Magazine, The Daily Express, and international outlets.

“Held By Trees conjure light with resplendent sounds weaving magical spells… an intuitive, inspirational group.” – Prog Magazine (live review)

You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Involved In Pride in Place

One of the biggest misconceptions about community projects is that they're only for people with impressive CVs, professional backgrounds or years of experience sitting on committees. The Pride in Place programme - a government investment for Whitehouse and Stoke Park/Chantry of £20m into each area over 10 years - is trying to change that.
