BTCP Live in Ipswich: Beth Orton with Special Guest Sam Amidon

Brighten The Corners are thrilled to present an unforgettable evening featuring the incredible English singer-songwriter Beth Orton, widely admired for her uniquely expressive voice and deeply immersive music. Join us at The Church in Ipswich on Friday 20th February 2026 for a night of enchanting soundscapes and compelling songwriting.

About Beth Orton

With a career spanning decades, Beth Orton has continually evolved, her voice growing richer and wiser with each album. Her eighth album has been hailed by Pitchfork as “the best work of her career,” delivering a soothing, dreamlike atmosphere through self-produced tracks that take listeners on a reflective journey.

“Music has always worked as a way of seeing,” Beth explains. “I found myself writing until the words lost sense, which is really scary in the real world but really interesting when you’re making music. It gives all meaning new meaning. One of the most exciting elements of writing songs is how they reveal their truth as the process develops.”

Special Guest: Sam Amidon

We’re delighted to welcome special guest Sam Amidon, a talented singer and multi-instrumentalist originally from Vermont and now based in London. Sam’s innovative work involves reimagining traditional ballads, hymns, and work songs into adventurous new expressions. The New York Times describes how he “transforms all of the songs, changing their colours and loading them with trapdoors.”

Over the years, Sam has collaborated with a wide range of prominent musicians including Bon Iver, The National, Jacob Collier, and even Beth Orton herself. He has performed alongside prestigious ensembles such as the Kronos Quartet and the British Sinfonia, making him an extraordinary artist not to miss.

You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Involved In Pride in Place

One of the biggest misconceptions about community projects is that they're only for people with impressive CVs, professional backgrounds or years of experience sitting on committees. The Pride in Place programme - a government investment for Whitehouse and Stoke Park/Chantry of £20m into each area over 10 years - is trying to change that.
