Information - Alterations Assistance

A fun and flexible class built around you, learn about how to mend and alter a garment you already have.

We all know what it’s like when you have something you’d love to wear but it needs a little alteration to get the fit you want. Whether it is a garment you have made yourself or something ready to wear which you bought, bring it in and get expert guidance on how to adjust the garment to fit you better.

Our teacher will help you identify what can be done to help with the fit of your clothing, assist you with pinning in new stitch lines or explain how to safely unpick and alter something without damaging the garment, and then guide you on how to adjust and reassemble the garment yourself.

You will have full use of our classroom facilities including high quality sewing machines, cutting tools and tables, irons and all the basic notions you may need. You would need to bring any garment you would like assistance with and any new zips, buttons etc that you may want to alter.

Pride in Place

You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Involved In Pride in Place

One of the biggest misconceptions about community projects is that they're only for people with impressive CVs, professional backgrounds or years of experience sitting on committees. The Pride in Place programme - a government investment for Whitehouse and Stoke Park/Chantry of £20m into each area over 10 years - is trying to change that.
