Information - Your Song, Your Voice – Summer Music Workshop

Your Song, Your Voice is a creative and inspiring one-day music workshop for young people aged 8–17.

Led by choir director and music facilitator Andi Hopgood, the workshop gives young people the opportunity to experience the full songwriting process, from the first spark of an idea through to a finished recording.

Working together in a supportive and inclusive environment, participants will choose a theme, develop lyrics, create an original song and record their voices as part of a professionally produced track. Along the way, they will build confidence, develop creative thinking and communication skills, learn how to collaborate effectively with others, and discover the power of expressing themselves through music. No previous singing or music experience is required, everyone is welcome.

The workshop is part of Suffolk Soul Singers Youth, a growing youth music project that brings young people together through singing, creativity and performance. As well as creating a memorable experience during the day, the workshop offers a chance for participants to meet like-minded young people and find out more about joining the youth choir, where they can continue developing their musical skills, confidence and friendships throughout the year.

As a lasting reminder of their achievement, every participant will receive a copy of the finished song and video, celebrating what they have created together and showcasing the unique voices and ideas that made the project possible.

You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Involved In Pride in Place

One of the biggest misconceptions about community projects is that they're only for people with impressive CVs, professional backgrounds or years of experience sitting on committees. The Pride in Place programme - a government investment for Whitehouse and Stoke Park/Chantry of £20m into each area over 10 years - is trying to change that.
