John Huston’s western, written by Arthur Miller, is set in Nevada where broken-hearted cowboys, drifting dreamers and fractured marriages collide. It was Marilyn Monroe’s final completed film, and she gives an affecting performance as a fragile, luminous woman whose life is haunted by promises that could never be fulfilled.
