Information - The Christmas Cracker

 The Christmas Cracker

A festive family themed event at Ipswich Transport Museum. Decorations, lights and entertainment in the Museum help get you in the Christmas mood.

Ride on historic Museum vehicles then meet Santa in his grotto. (Entry to the grotto is £2 extra, which includes a gift).

Our museum building itself has historic significance. Built in 1936/37 it was a former Ipswich Corporation Transport trolleybus depot. The Museum has been based here since 1989 and the building was extensively refurbished in 2001. The main hall contains our bigger exhibits and displays where you can see a fascinating collection of Ipswich’s Transport and Engineering Heritage covering some 200 years.  Some of our exhibits are maintained in operational condition and are used on Special Event Open Days. Entry is allowed inside many of our static vehicles enabling you to sample the sights and sounds of the past.

You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Involved In Pride in Place

One of the biggest misconceptions about community projects is that they're only for people with impressive CVs, professional backgrounds or years of experience sitting on committees. The Pride in Place programme - a government investment for Whitehouse and Stoke Park/Chantry of £20m into each area over 10 years - is trying to change that.
