About the film
Lotte Reiniger’s 1926 silhouette-animation masterpiece, inspired by One Thousand and One Nights, screens alongside three of her shorter fairy-tale films. Made from hand-cut card silhouettes animated on lead sheets beneath the camera, the films conjure witches, enchanted kingdoms, princes and princesses out of shadow, colour and light.
