Information - Swerve Johnson / Cryptid Hive / Gwildcore

Looking for a night of incredible live music right in the heart of town? Mark your calendars for Saturday, 2nd May 2026, as we head down to The Smokehouse for a fantastic triple-bill featuring Swerve Johnson, Cryptid Hive, and Gwildcore.

The Main Event: Swerve Johnson

If you’re a fan of the classic 1970s London pub rock scene, you are in for a real treat. Swerve Johnson brings that high-energy, authentic sound back to life, channeling the spirit of legends like Elvis Costello, Ian Dury, and Nick Lowe. Expect punchy rhythms paired with sharp, introspective lyrics that tell stories you’ll really connect with. It’s the kind of music that invites you to lose yourself in the moment and just enjoy the ride.

Local Support: Cryptid Hive & Gwildcore

The night gets even better with some brilliant local talent. We are thrilled to welcome back local synth-rockers Cryptid Hive. They’ve already made a name for themselves at The Smokehouse with their memorable “Holding Goldie” performance, and we can’t wait to see what they bring to the stage this time.

Opening the evening is Gwildcore, a true “old Ipswichian” of rich and beardy descent! If you like your music a bit more experimental, you’ll love his trippy electronic sounds, crafted using a unique blend of samples and analogue hardware. It’s the perfect way to kick off a night of musical discovery.

You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Involved In Pride in Place

One of the biggest misconceptions about community projects is that they're only for people with impressive CVs, professional backgrounds or years of experience sitting on committees. The Pride in Place programme - a government investment for Whitehouse and Stoke Park/Chantry of £20m into each area over 10 years - is trying to change that.
