Information - Star Party

Join us on Saturday 28th February from 6pm – 8pm for our annual Star Party at Christchurch Mansion!

We will be joined by the Orwell Astronomical Society, who will help you observe the universe through their telescopes. Come along and see the winter constellations, a nearby galaxy, stellar nurseries and star clusters. The Moon and Jupiter will also be well placed to view.

As this event is weather dependent, the weather forecast will be reviewed a few days before and if the weather is unsuitable, the event would instead take place indoors. The indoor event would include a presentation of previously recorded footage taken by Society members with a chance to ask them any astronomy questions and see their equipment.

This event is suitable for ages 5+. Under-16s must be accompanied by a parent or carer at all times.

Tickets cost £6 per person, which includes light refreshments.

You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Involved In Pride in Place

One of the biggest misconceptions about community projects is that they're only for people with impressive CVs, professional backgrounds or years of experience sitting on committees. The Pride in Place programme - a government investment for Whitehouse and Stoke Park/Chantry of £20m into each area over 10 years - is trying to change that.
