Smith Vs Smiths Clubnight at The Baths

It’s time to get down — in every sense of the phrase! Join us for Smith Vs Smiths, Ipswich’s annual clubnight celebrating the iconic sounds of The Cure and The Smiths. Held at The Baths on Friday 23rd January 2026, this night is dedicated to the music of these legendary bands, plus the groups they’ve been part of, the artists they’ve inspired, and the musicians they personally loved.

What to Expect

With an incredible soundtrack lined up, this night is a true pleasure for music lovers. Furry resident DJs Ed Barnes and Jimmy Knott will be on the decks playing their favourite cuts, making sure you’re fully immersed in the glorious gloom. Alongside the classics from The Cure and The Smiths, you can expect atmospheric tunes from Joy Division, Depeche Mode, Tears for Fears, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Sisters of Mercy, and other “lumps of coal” to keep the vibes dark and danceable.

It’s Ipswich’s ultimate celebration of all things miserably danceable, perfectly blending the melancholy with the groove. Whether you’re a longtime fan or just looking for a night out steeped in some of the most beloved sounds of alternative music, this is the event for you.

Accessibility

The Baths venue features a ramp entrance ensuring step-free access, with all areas including the bar located on one floor for ease and convenience. There is also an accessible toilet on the same level. If you need any assistance or have special accessibility requirements, please contact the venue in advance so they can help make your visit as comfortable as possible.

Grab Your Tickets and Join Us!

Early bird tickets are the best way to secure your spot for just £6 + booking fee, so don’t wait! You were looking for a night out — and you found it. Come revel in the misery, the music, and the community at Smith Vs Smiths. Heaven knows you’re miserable now… and we can’t wait to see you on the dancefloor!

You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Involved In Pride in Place

One of the biggest misconceptions about community projects is that they're only for people with impressive CVs, professional backgrounds or years of experience sitting on committees. The Pride in Place programme - a government investment for Whitehouse and Stoke Park/Chantry of £20m into each area over 10 years - is trying to change that.
