Information - Pinewood Poetry Club

Join us at Pinewood Community Hall (in the lounge) for a monthly, free, fun & friendly poetry club. Bring a favourite poem to read, have a go at gentle writing activities, and enjoy live performances from poets & performers from across East Anglia.

Maybe you’ll be brave enough to share a poem you wrote yourself? No pressure. All words welcome. An enjoyable, relaxed, inclusive, and wordy club for adults.

Fully accessible venue. Located on the no.15/13 bus route, and large free car park (just drive up the barrier and it will open). Free tea/coffee and biscuits.

Proudly brought to you by SoapBox Spoken Word CIC, the only legally registered, spoken word, non-profit company across the East. SoapBox (as an event) started in 2006, so we have been creating fantastic, inclusive and authentic poetry events for 19 years.

Words & Verses is our longest running event, starting in 2012 at The Spread Eagle and taking place monthly, it was Ipswich’s first dedicated & regular spoken word open mic, rapidly approaching our 100th edition! We are delighted that W&V is no longer the only poetry event in town, and adore how vibrant our local spoken word community is.

Amy Wragg is trained in safeguarding, has a full DBS, and is insured as an artist to deliver work.

You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Involved In Pride in Place

One of the biggest misconceptions about community projects is that they're only for people with impressive CVs, professional backgrounds or years of experience sitting on committees. The Pride in Place programme - a government investment for Whitehouse and Stoke Park/Chantry of £20m into each area over 10 years - is trying to change that.
