Information -  Museum on the Move: Inspiring Every Generation

On Thursday 21st & Friday 22nd of August, Ipswich Museum will be popping up at the Buttermarket Centre to deliver ‘Museum on the Move: Inspiring Every Generation’, from 10am – 3pm in Unit 5 next to TK Maxx.

This free family friendly event will introduce the eight new gallery themes for Ipswich Museum when it reopens for the first time. You’ll be able to explore and handle some of the objects related to each theme that are part of our collections, take a look at the layout plans for each space, get involved in an array of interactive actives for all ages and talk to staff.

Interactive activities include:

  • Cleaning objects that we will be going back on display at Ipswich Museum (Thursday 21st Only)
  • Use USB microscopes to look that bit closer
  • Learn how fossils are formed by colouring in and cutting out your own Ammonite
  • Steppe Mammoth Mini-Dig: Become a Palaeontologist.
  • Paper Butterflies: Cut and colour your own specimen to take away.
  • Card game: Match the streets of Ipswich based on artist William John Legget’s paintings
  • And more!
