Moving Worlds – Dance, film, and participation
Rosemary Lee in conversation with Gillie Kleiman
Presented by DanceEast and SPILL Festival

An evening of dance on film by acclaimed choreographer and filmmaker Rosemary Lee and a discussion around the art of making dance with non-professional/cross generational performers.

This selection of magical films transports you to different worlds whilst highlighting the grace and individuality of every performer. From a nine-year old boy leaping through sand dunes, a young girl exploring a forgotten garden, to over seventy performers of all ages gliding through a cathedral of trees, they reflect our humanity and unspoken connection to each other and the environment.

Introduced by Rosemary, the presentation of films will be followed by a conversation with British choreographer Gillie Kleiman. Her renowned practice has also involved creating dance and performance with non-professional dancers. Gillie’s project friend is part of the SPILL Festival programme this year.

The touring programme Moving Worlds was commissioned by The Place and will be touring as part of the Rural Touring Dance Initiative in 2024/25.

“An amazing body of humanitarian, nostalgic and very beautiful work. Made my heart race…” – Audience member
