Information - Meet Up Mondays

The Greyhound is a proud supporter of Meet Up Mondays, the network that gives local people who might otherwise be lonely the opportunity to come in for refreshments and a chat.

We began welcoming folk in 2018, and since then it has grown in popularity, with scores of people turning up every Monday morning.

There is engaging conversation, games, talks plus, of course, free tea and coffee with refreshments.

The Meet Up Mondays movement started at a pub in Wimbledon in 2018, and we were inspired to join in. Our team here at The Greyhound love putting on the weekly event as much as our guests seem to enjoy it!

We’ve written several times about the gatherings, including this blog post written by customer Beryl Beech, who was just 90 years young at the time. We were also thrilled to receive this poem by customer Alex, who comes in with his dog, Jessie. We don’t just meet up here, we’ve had the occasional outing together, and this is something we’d like to do more often. Loneliness is a terrible thing, and it’s not just the elderly who suffer. If you would like to get involved, just turn up at the pub on Mondays from 10am to 11.30am, or get in touch with us here for more info.
